Mom's Pasties
Ingredients
Pasty Filling
- 15 lb potatoes sliced
- 3 lbs onions chopped
- 3 Small rutabagas yellow ones sliced
- 4 lbs pork cubed small
- 5 lbs beef cubed small
Pasty Crust
- 1 lb lard
- 9 cups flour
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 cups water
Instructions
Pasty Filling
- Mix all ingredients, chill & set aside
Pasty Crust
- Mix like pie crust
- I break it in half & do it in my kitchen aid..works great
Making Pasties
- Section dough into individual serving sizes
- Roll into 1/8 inch blanks
- Place 1 heaping cup of filling on to 1 half of dough blank
- Fold dough over and crimp edge
Prebaked for Freezing
- Bake pasties at 375 degrees for 35 minutes
- Cool & place in freezer
- When ready to eat, bake frozen pasty at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes or until golden brown.
Immediate servings
- Bake at 375 degrees fro 40 to 50 minutes & serve hot.
